What We Do

At the Minneapolis Institute of Fine Finishes (MIFF), we strive to offer fine finishing opportunities for amateurs and professionals. Our hands-on classes are taught by real professionals in the fine finishing field, and range from basic painting to complex fine finishes & Venetian plasters. Whether you are just beginning to paint or have been painting for years, there is a hands-on class waiting for you!

Looks like silk & feels like suede, Moire’ is a new luxury coating that resembles oriental wild silk. An opulent wall finish that is very environmentally friendly, Moire’ is durable and washable, plus it’s easy to apply.

Moire’ is a multiple effects metallic luster decorative coating. Create a stunning ceiling finish in the dining room, a soft restful look in the master suite, or a reflective, gold, iridescent, or silver shimmer to any room in your home that you desire. Moire’ gives your walls the soft look and subtle movement of suede without compromising their smooth finish. Many creative finishes can be produced with Moire’.

Use Moire’ as a plaster finish coat for interior walls, ceilings, and special decorative features. It can be applied over most high-quality plaster and gypsum board bases or other smooth substrates. This easy to use wall coating can be applied using stainless steel trowels, spatulas, brushes or rollers of varying types required to produce intended results. Moire’ is easy to use and has a very low VOC content. It requires only soap and water clean up. It’s a terrific alternative to wallcovering or faux finishing because it is always repairable, it improves the condition of your walls, and it never needs to be removed.

A short training program on application techniques is recommended for ideal results. (MIFF) offers a 4-hour program, “Intro to Moire’ and New Italian Traditions Collection,” monthly. Bring a friend to this is fun, fast paced program to get you started. Your walls will be the envy of the neighborhood.
